Wednesday Wobblers
The Wednesday Wobblers is a group of like minded cyclists from all over Kent who get together in separate groups every Wednesday. It is not associated with any club or other group, although in the racing season there is a series of time trials organised by the VTTA which take place on the morning of the first Wednesday each month, and these are contested by some riders who are also 'wobblers'.
The aim of the rides is mainly social and endurance. There is a rota of seven pubs (see below) at which a good value lunch menu is available, and a stop for elevenses is also normal. It is not unusual for there to be fifty plus riders congregating for these lunch stops from all over Kent. Those Southborough members who participate usually meet at 09.30 at Pembury on the Green and are usually led by Les Hayman. Participants can, of course, ride directly to the pre-arranged elevenses stop or to lunch, so a training ride can be followed by a social recovery ride. In the Summer months, distances of sixty miles are frequently achieved over the three segments of the day.
Notification of each week's ride and the venue for elevenses is emailed to participants on Monday or Tuesday. If you are interested in receiving notifications, pass your email address to Ian Turner at via the contact page. Alternatively, if you find yourself available to ride on a Wednesday, just turn up at the pub around 1.00 pm.
